New Double Headed Seagulls single, Finding Solace Premiere, Nightmare Machine, and Sonic Bullying

Finding Solace premieres August 9th at Austin Action Fest

I don’t think I could be MORE excited about this! Finding Solace premieres on August 9th, 2025 at Austin Action Fest. We did such a good job promoting the film premiere that we were able to get the curators at Austin Action Fest to open another 130 seat theater. That one is ALSO close to being sold out.

Get your hands on your ticket, here, before they are all gone:

Finding Solace Music Teasers Galore

Things Get Real hits kinda deep:

And then, a little guitar solo and Fender Rhodes for Hello, New Liberty to make it lively and interesting:

There will be two more teasers added tomorrow and the day after, so head to Fire, Fire, Red Star Down’s YouTube channel and get yourself subscribed to make sure you don’t miss out.

Half An Hour Past Hanging Time by The Double Headed Seagulls drops on August 21st, 2025, for Members Only

Half An Hour Past Hanging Time record cover

For those brave enough (hahahaha) to become members of Fire, Fire, Red Star Down, I offer you not just a week’s early access to Play Artful by The Double Headed Seagulls, but also an exclusive single of their latest song.

Half An Hour Past Hanging Time sounds distinctly like a Double Headed Seagulls track, though this time it’s a tad more spacious and 3D-sounding. Whereas prior tracks emphasized noise that was immediately present and forward-sounding, this song took advantage of depth as well as panning and height. Perhaps that’s hard to explain, but a great deal of time time was invested in mixing and mastering this song to sound a very particular way. I hope you enjoy it.

Play Artful teaser dropped!

The second song off the new record has a teaser:

Was 14 seconds not enough for you? Well, no problem there… :)

The Nightmare Machine

The sounds you hear in the track below came from the big, insanely crazy-looking horror foley audio device pictured below:

This beast of a device has already given me a head-start into composing more music for supernatural horror films. Two directors have already expressed interest. The feeling is mutual. :)

Decibullying

A good friend of mine and I got annoyed with the sheer volume of ambient noise and music in coffeeshops. We couldn’t hold conversations with each other because we’d have to shout over the amount of noise.

Well darnit, I finally nerded-up and got a decibel meter. Since then, I have been taking semi-precise measurements of coffeeshops. One man’s opinion: There’s no reason why any coffeeshop should be above 70db. When the music and noise goes above 70db, people talk louder and louder, which adds to ambient noise, which encourages coffeeshops to turn up the music. It’s quite a sonic arms race… I have to wear thick headphones to drown it all out.

I couldn’t help but start sending photos to this same friend of mine, photos of offenders of my 70db preference. As I’m writing this update right now, the photo was taken in a South Austin coffeeshop that will remain nameless (except for a massive Yelp review I’m tempted to write):

Terrible Decibel Rating of a Nameless Coffeeshop in South Austin
